Background:
It’s a start up online game portal, an initiative from 5000 cr Sugal & Damani Group with a prominent presence in Lottery, Real Estate, Retailing, Jewellery, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism, Online Services segment in India. (Visit www.sugaldamani.com for group info).
A brand new concept, this start-up website is designed as a zone where gamers can unite to share and take advantage of global gaming experience. Profits will be generated from the sale of advertising rights & game access to Distributors, Internet Café & Gamers.
Not only will this Game Portal be the only website that gamers around the world have bookmarked, but it will also be the one web start-up of 2007 that every advertiser will want rights to.
The proposed Game Portal plans to become the largest online game community in India by providing users with the most relevant games & interaction tools.
The Portal will offer community an entertaining place to play online games & interact with each other and the world in general. It will generate traffic first, valuation for investors, and eventually commerce and profits.
Competence:-
- Capable of building an online community
- Able to create and maintain a virtual world in which all the users of the portal crave to be part of it
- It would help if that person understands application of internet technology, at least well enough to know what it could do.
- Have to be able to understand a marketplace, do outbound / out of office surveys and non-electronic communications.
- Have to be able to balance sudden and huge amounts of inbound correspondence without making people feel left out. Should have knowledge to use technology for such solutions.
- Have to be able to walk the fine line between rejecting trolls and alienating the good guys
- Capable of social designing (SOCIAL DESIGN is design that focuses on the social lives of users. It deals with the activities, behaviors, and motivations of people who work and play together through software interfaces. It is built on the observation that many of the decisions we make are greatly affected by those we surround ourselves with in our social lives: our family, friends, and colleagues)
Responsibility:-
- Serve as the shadow point of contact for multiple gaming communities and provide best practice guidance in the areas of content and service development, event programming, online facilitation, member outreach, etc. While Customer service department shall handle logistic and tactical issues, the community manager shall take inputs from all channels and work out strategies for stickiness of the portal.
- Drive to completion, from investigation to incorporating change in method of delivery, initiatives that bond a community, social networking, and other technologies to increase community participation.
- Develop and post interactive content that encourages participation and the development of member-generated content to ensure that the community is achieving its objectives
- Drive processes that encourage member-to-member interaction, as well as community-initiated and SND-initiated interactions between community members and SND
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the hosted community in conjunction with internal community owners
- Monitor and moderate community participation to ensure that rules of engagement are adhered to assist in the development of the Community platform and ensuring that it meets the objectives of the SND Communities
- Guides, develops and manages events for the communities of interest that attract and encourage conversation about the games.
- Provide tracking and metrics to communicate and validate the Community interaction.
- In short this position is a blend of Radio Jockey (Online Jockey) and Community Strategist profile.
Requirements:-
- Bachelors degree in business; MBA and/or Mass Communication plus
- 5+ years experience in Online Product Marketing / Management, Communities or Self Service Support Programs in a popular portal with high hit rates.
- Overwhelming passion for today’s social networking and collaboration technologies.
- Experience building online interaction among members of a large-scale communities around simple front ends but novel and complex technologies at the back-end.
- Experience with, and passion for, creating and consuming new content types: websites, blogs, podcasts, wikis, etc.
- Specific experience identifying and utilizing appropriate content streams: transcripts, articles, surveys, web seminars, podcasts, wikis, blogs, etc.
- Expertise in a driving subscription-based product or services of the company (preferably in an emerging market)
- Equally comfortable making a customer presentation and creating content for the community
- Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to work cross-functionally and in teams to meet the community objective.
- Proven history of developing new, sustainable processes.
- A self-starter with the willingness, and desire, to “roll up your sleeves” and get the job done.
- Preference for working in a fast paced, start-up environment.
CTC: - Rs. 8.00 - Rs. 10.00 LPA
