In 1995, cofounders Dr. Ajoy Bose and Asoke Laha were both senior management executives at Cadence Design Systems. During the course of their careers, both Ajoy and Asoke had developed a network of CIO relationships at a variety of leading companies. Through their own experiences as users of outsourced consulting services to support corporate initiatives, both men saw an opportunity to leverage their knowledge of the Indian software community as foundation for providing IT consulting services to their initial contacts in North America.
InterraIT was conceptualized in September 1996 and began operations from the home of its President and Managing Director Asoke K Laha in New Delhi, India. Back then it existed as the IT services subsidiary of Interra, Inc., (now known as Atrenta Inc.) a San Jose based provider of Electronic Design Automation services to high technology industries and major US corporations.
Today InterraIT is a diversified services company that caters to several customers worldwide, including Fortune 1000 companies. It boasts of a large team of certified professionals skilled in diverse technologies, products and business domains ready to deliver anywhere across the globe.

Mike Vizard, Editorial Director for Ziff-Davis Enterprise makes a poignant remark about the importance of diversity in the IT department in his blog “Diversity in IT Has Become a Business Imperative”.
