Software Exports To Register 33% Growth In Dollar Terms

Computer software exports will register 33 per cent growth in dollar terms and 23 per cent in rupee terms during 2007-08, according to the estimates made by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC).reports The Economic Times.

In absolute terms, exports during the year, will work out to $45 billion (Rs 180,000 crore).

ESC Chairman Sanjiv Narayan said that though the IT export growth is significant, exports have fallen short of the proposed target set by ESC for the year 2007-08 at 39 per cent in dollar terms and 36 per cent in rupee terms.

These growth targets have been set taking into cognizance past growth trends and confidence level of the software exports last year which stood at 37.5 billion dollars.
